Waterblock 2080ti
« on: 14-September-18, 13:48:23 »

Hi,

I was just wondering if anyone know if some company is in the making of a custom waterblock for the MSI GeForce® RTX 2080 Ti GAMING X TRIO
I have contacted EKWB regarding this and they dont have a sollution yet and dont have plans of making one.
Havnt seen alot of mentionings regarding this card on any of the watercooling top-brands.
I think this is the card I'm going to get, but if I cant put a custom block on it I think I have to go for somthing else.

Does anyone know something i dont?

This card is not even on the market yet so nobody will be able to tell for sure. So far I haven't seen any custom water cooler advertised. Usually only refrence design cards will have watercoolers available pretty much from the start. it would take time for custom designs anyway. Considering the price level of RTX 2080 Ti and the small number of cards therefor most likely being sold makes creating a cooler just for a specific custom board design pretty much a bad deal for companies like EKWB. As the major feature of the GAMING X TRIO is the cooler MSI created there will be even a very very much smaller number of the small number of potential buyers that will consider replacing it with a waterblock.

Hi,

I understand what you mean. But EKWB already have compability with:
Nvidia PCB Design NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 Ti Founders Edition
EVGA EVGA GeForce RTX 2080 Ti XC
EVGA EVGA GeForce RTX 2080 Ti XC ULTRA GAMING
GIGABYTE GIGABYTE GeForce RTX 2080 Ti WINDFORCE OC 11G
Palit Palit GeForce RTX 2080 Ti GamingPro OC, 11GB GDDR6
Gainward Palit GeForce RTX 2080 Ti GamingPro, 11GB GDDR6

And as far as I can see, EVGA EVGA GeForce RTX 2080 Ti XC ULTRA GAMING is very similar in the design.

And as far as I can see, EVGA EVGA GeForce RTX 2080 Ti XC ULTRA GAMING is very similar in the design.

And what should I say now? You have to ask EKWB. MSI does not create graphics cards for EKWB but EKWB creates waterblocks for existing graphics cards. MSi surely does not put that much time and effort in an air cooled design like the Trio X so EKWB can create a waterblock at all cost. It is EKWB's (and only EKWB's) decision what custom cards they cover.

Besides these cards appear to use refrence pcb or quite similar designs and no custom pcb. Can't see in any way where EVGA GeForce RTX 2080 Ti XC ULTRA GAMING is similar to the Trio X. EKWB have just took a look if the one refrence design cooler tested on the Founders Edition will also fit on these card (comaptibility: visual). They do not make various custom coolers for any of these designs.

I understand that it's not up to the manufacturer of the card, the question still remains that if anyone have seen a block for this particular model, doesn't have to be EKWB.
Just stating the possibilities that water blocks have already been tested, and being prebooked as we speak, with other models than the reference cards. Similar PCB or not.

Since you said "So far I haven't seen any custom water cooler advertised". I'm just saying that it's not the case, even tho the other brands might be the same as the founders.

I'm not playing ignorant, just looking for information that I'm not able to gather by myself. I guess we have to wait and see what's going to happen in the near future.
I've come in contact with a marketing chap at EK and they say that they don't have the model in their time frame but will most likely make a block for it.
