psu problem msi k7n2 delta 2 lsr ms-6570e ver:10c
« on: 25-December-18, 11:17:08 »

hi,
i want to get my old mobo back to life. when i bought it 10years or more ago i just hooked it to a standart 200-300w psu that was in this case. after using it for a few years the psu broke and took the cpu with it. now i want to have the right psu for it, i have already purchased 2 enermax psu(660 and 600w) with high ratings on the 3,3 and 5v rail. they where sold working, the first has a short in the 5v rail, the second gets shutdown in between 1 second after turning on but i will send this one back. so now iam on the point to take plan A again and look for a brandnew one. i did already a lot of research but could not get any specs(the manual says a psu above 450w). then i found a psu calc that supported my cpu at least, i put the max devices and oc in it to see the highest reading. it says
3,3v 11,5a
5v    38,6a
12v  19,9a
3,3 and 5v combined load 232w
520w psu recommendation

the psu calc does not ask for the mobo so i think it takes the cpu load to the 5v rail. my mobo has the seperate 4pin connector, so i dont need that amp rating on the 5v rail and combined load??
when my gues is right can i go with my fav brand be quiet? the best psu (1200w) has this specs:
3,3v  25a
5v    25a
12v  35a
max combined load 150w
so will this be enough to have the computer running reliably and dont drive any of the rails on its max current? is it possible to go lower in the numbers to have a lower wattage psu to buy?
also i found a corsair 1200w psu with specs:
3,3v 30a
5v   30a
combined load 180w

long story :) i hope someone can tell me some numbers where "red" beginns and when iam definitely over the "green" line(above the max power consumption)

have a nice holiday and thanks for answering :D

400W/450W PSU is strong enough for that board. Back when I had a K7N2G-LSR I had 350W and never had any problems.

my problem is with the amperege of the new psu's, i have searched an enermax 450w( https://www.ebay.de/itm/Enermax-FMA-II-Mod-EG465AX-VE-460W-ATX-12V-20-4-PIN-PC-Netzteil-82-1394/123478835178?hash=item1cbfe97fea:g:NaIAAOSwpFhbmDYZ:rk:51:pf:0 )with the specs:
3,3v 30a
5v    30a
12v  22a
combined load 160w
so the 5v and 3,3v rail are different from the 1200w be quiet but the combined load matches pretty closely. when would it be enough amps 20 or 25 or 30?

my build isnt finished yet, my cpu is a athlon xp-m 2600 axmg2600fqq4c. i have a radeon hd 3850 agp here to go inside, ram i thin 2x1gb 200mhz but in caculation i would put 3x1gb in the box. at some point i want a good or the best from the time :) soundcart. i would like to add a ssd, but dont know how xp will handle this. i think i need 2hdds in it(one for hot swapping). i have a vfd display in it and maybe a cardreader will go in it too. only the cpu and mobo are currently in the case, i want to have it running and then get the ram and so on. thinks are currently in are nvidia 7700 agp or so, 1x256mb ram and 3 case fans
