Help with bios update -P67A GD65 (B3)
« on: 08-January-19, 00:55:02 »

Hello,

i got a used AMD RX580 and cant get to the POST. Now i try to update my bios of the mobo P67A-GD65 B3 which seems quite dificult. I managed to get to a version 1.19 here: https://de.msi.com/Motherboard/support/P67AGD65_B3#down-bios but i want the newer one, the problem is there are no real bios files and i cant get it flashed. Is the 1.19 version of this mobo the highest version i can upgrade? I thought the mobo was compatible with the AMD Radeon RX580.

Thanks for your help.

Yes, it is impossible to use any vga later than GTX 7xx or Radeon HD 7xxx without an ME8 bios on a 6 series board. So yes, you need an updated bios, in this case 4.3.

For Flashing use the exact archive linked here with the instructions here:

A.) Download the >>linked archive<< and place it on your desktop. Do not decompress.
B.) Download and install the >>MSI HQ Forum USB flasher<<.
C.) Insert your FAT32 formatted usb stick.
D.) Make sure that all win 8 options are disabled. (Fast Boot etc) Also make sure the legacy USB is enabled.
E.) Start the forum flash tool and select option 1. Then point the tool at the compressed archive we downloaded earlier. Then to your USB Flash Drive.
   F.) Boot to the USB
G.) Now follow the directions and let the tool flash

Hi!

I have a very similar situation.  Also trying to get an RX580 to work, but I have a P67A-G43 (B3)!

I tried to go step by step from the method above but couldn't get it to load from the USB stick.  I did make sure legacy USB was enabled, and tried different slots in case of USB 2.0/3.0 issues.

Eventually I got to the error:

The function Boot from USB disk failed, please check USB disk and ROM file, or Enter setup to disable it!!!

Any suggestions?

I've tried to use the regular method for updating BIOS by downloading to the USB device and using the M-FLASH utility in the BIOS, but for some reason the USB was detected but never the actual BIOS files on the disk.

I'm stuck with my original American Megatrends V1.10 from March 2011, so it's definitely not helping me use my new card.  By the way, that website is awful to try and actually find anything helpful.  Hoping MSI forums might give me a helping hand!

Thanks ahead for any information you might be able to provide!

This is not your thread and you don't have the same board. As the bios archive is the crucial part the instructions won't help you. Of course you need a different bios.

Open your own thread.
