PH67A-C43 bios update
« on: 11-January-19, 16:28:53 »

Hello,

i have a bios version 2.7 for my mothercard PH67A-C43 and i would like to update it.  i spent several hours to understand how to do it but i have still fews questions.

First, my CPU is an i7-2600K and i can see this recommandation for the last (5.4) bios version "* MSI recommend you to update BIOS with ME8 only if you are using IvyBridge 22nm CPU.".  it seems that my CPU is a 32mn Sandy bridge but i read on a forum that this version work with this CPU. Could you please confirm me if i can use this version or which one i have to use?

Moreover, I tried to update the bios with an USB key with 2 differents ways but it didnt work.
First i extracted the 5.4 files on a usb key and click on the application. It worked at the beginning and my computer restarted but then nothing happened. Windows launched like usual.
I also tried to upade the bios in the m-flash section but when i select the usb key it write "there isnt any bios file in the usb key (root folder)" whereas i can see the 540 bios file on Windows.

Sorry for my english i am French, if you can help me i will really appreciate it.
Tom

I would like to add that i have tried to update the BIOS with the "Indeb" tool that i found on the forum, but the issue is still the same : the programm worked at the beginning but when the computer restart no update was launched.

In my bios section, i can choose the 1st device which will be boost. By default it is the "usb hard disk". But with this option if there is a usb key in my computer when the computer start widows will never be launched and i have to turn my computer off manualy, remove the usb key and then start again the computer.

Hello flobelix,

I downloaded the "INdeb" tool from MSI forum, launched it and insert my usb key. Then i choose "option 1" and i select the 7673v54 compressed file found on the MSI website. Then i wrote the letter of my usb key. The system is running and a message box asked me to restart the computer. I did and then i had either a black screen (if i previously choose "usb hard disk" for the 1st boost in the bios) or Windows run (if i previously choose my standard "hard disk" for the 1st boost in the bios).
If i open the usb key on Windows i can see bios files.

I just did , but it failed once again.

The INdeb program worked well until a message box which asked to reboot the computer.

I reboot the PC and went to the "m-flash" section of the bios.
I have 4 choices :
           - BIOS Boot Function (i selected enabled)
           - Select UEFI fil to boot from
           - Save current UEFI rom to file
           - Select UEFI file to flash (if i choose this option, it doesnt find the bios file)

So i choosed "select UEFI fil to boot from", then i selected the bios file, then "Save and Reset".
Then the pc reboot several times and then i have a black screen with the error message " Warning !!!  The previous overclocking has failed. Please enter SETUP to configure your system." Then i press F1 to run the setup and i have the error message "the function Boot from usb disk failed".

I used this tool : https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=108079.msg800577#msg800577

At the end of the process my usb key is ready.
There is a message which say : restart you computer and boot the usb.
i thought i had to go in the mflash section to boot it.

What i have to do to boot the usb key ?

It is now working.

I used your file and not the file available on the MSI website.
To boot the usb hard disk i had to press F11 when the pc just start and choose the usb key instead of my usual hard disk.

Thank you for your help.
