MSI X99 GAMING 7 issues (99 code)
« on: 15-January-19, 01:05:45 »

Hi

I have a MSI X99 GAMING 7 motherboard. It have suddenly stopped working with error 00.

Complete Configration:

1)i7-5820k (Overclocked to 4.2)
2)MSI X99 GAMING 7
3)G.SKILL 32 GB RAM (2*16 GB)
4)COrsair H100i AIO
5)MSI 980Ti
6)EVGA 1000 WATT PSU
7)SAMSUNG EVO 850  (bootable drive)

I have taken every thing out of the case and inspected(CPU Pins) and tested everything ,it didn't helped.

After reading the manual and searching online, I thought that it might be currupted bios so I switched to
the alternative bios.

It helped get pass 00, but with alternative bios i am stuck at code 99, here are more details:

1)If I plug usb keyboard then it simply displays 99 error code and simply restarts

2)If I plug PS2 keyboard then code 99 code stays for 2-3 seconds (flashes keyboard lights 3 times) and then restarts

Things connected to the motherboard at the moment

1)CPU
2)H100i and Its power connector
3)1 G SKILL 16 GB stick
4)980 Ti

I have tried clearing CMOS it didn't help.

Did anyone have any idea what may cause this behavior? Thanks in advance.

Hello,
This mobo has 2 bios. Use the Multi-Bios Switch to change bios used:

- Power off PC AND the PSU, wait that all LEDs on the mobo light off.
- Push on the switch BUT, BE CAUTIOUS because the switch is very fragile, therefore push on it gently (do not force).
- Power on PSU then PC. Verify that the LED in front of the switch position is on and the other is off (if the 2 are on, switch is defectuous and you have to RMA the mobo).
=> Does PC post now?
If yes, I will then explain how to reload the damaged bios with M-Flash.
Hoping it shall help,
:hat tip:

Hello,
Quote
Verify that the LED in front of the switch position is on and the other is off (if the 2 are on, switch is defectuous and you have to RMA the mobo).
Are the Multi-Bios LEDs Ok?

If yes, clear again CMOS after to have switched:
- Power off PSU, unplug the power cord and wait that all mobo's leds light off.
- Keep the "Clear CMOS" button on the back panel pressed during at least 20s:
- Plug the power cord and power on.
- If you see a message, choose "Load default values".
If problem remains, please verify:
- Audio PWR at default:

- OC Genie button at off:

Good luck,
