mystic light 3 updates?
« on: 12-February-19, 06:28:35 »

my msi z370 gaming carbon with mystic light is poor. there is not much options in mystic light.  rainbow effect is not smooth and I can't change speed or direction of the effect. Is there any updates to get more advanced setting for motherboard lightning. Its so annoying when other components and lights are smooth but msi motherboard has poor rainbow effect. is it possible to get better software or is the mobo's leds too bad for smooth working?

What do you mean by "smooth"? Are you talking about addressable LEDs so lit up parts can be at different colors at the same time? If so the board does simply not have a controller supporting that. It is the same with changing speed or direction. Z370 boards are from the first generation of boards with widespread RGB LED support. Such features were introduced with Z390 boards.

motherboards led are not smoot compared to g.skil ram sticks. i mean that the leds change color between 12 colors. It can dim one color smoothly but can't change colors smoothly? So if i want better lightning I should buy new motherboard?

You did not clarify what smooth means. If it is the addressable LEDs you mean then yes you would need a different mainboard. This mainboard doesn't have LED sections that can be at multiple colors at the same time. At the time of this board controllers did rarely have such functions.

@eelis.forssell you are correct, I have the same issues with my Z370 Gaming Pro Carbon. The problem is not Mystic Light but the motherboard's LED Firmware. I reported these issues a few times to MSI with webtickets and got zero results for it. There is big difference with the Rainbow effect when I compare it with my Z270 Gaming Pro Carbon, the Rainbow effect of the Z370 Gaming Pro Carbon is definitely not smooth. The Breathing effect also causes the MB Right track LED's to flicker before reaching maximum brightness, only fix for it is to reduce the brightness. The Meteor effect goes anti-clockwise and the Stack effect causes the top two LEDs of the right track to remain faintly lit.

I gave up on trying to get MSI to fix the issues. I have fitted a remote operated LED strip and disabled the motherboard LEDs.

Hi,

What is your current motherboard LED firmware version?
Is it up to date?
Have you tried updating the motherboard LED firmware through MSI LiveUpdate?
If your current LED firmware is not the latest and there is a new LED firmware update being available under system information in LiveUpdate, you should be able to check your motherboard LED firmware version, and update the firmware for a better RGB lighting experience.
The flickering issue that you mentioned should have been solved by the firmware version of 0A21.

Also, taking a short video of the RAINBOW lighting effect would help us all understand how the RAINBOW lighting effect is not behaving smoothly as expected.

Thanks

Besides the question was pointed at the OP (eelis.forssell), what is the video supposed to show? I can't see an issue.

Does Mystic Light allow you to adjust the LEDs brightness?
Can you please also show us a video of the flickering issue?
Do the right track LEDs flicker in all sync mode too?

Thanks

Yes I can adjust the LED brightness for the Breathing mode.

Yes the right track LED's also flicker with ALL SYNC mode.

The right track does not flicker @251 with normal Breathing mode and also not @252 with ALL SYNC Breathing mode.

Hi,

Yes I can adjust the LED brightness for the Breathing mode. Yes the right track LED's also flicker with ALL SYNC mode. The right track does not flicker @251 with normal Breathing mode and also not @252 with ALL SYNC Breathing mode.

Thanks for telling us about the problems in detail.

Regarding the meteor effect, If you look at the UI animation in Mystic Light 3, the lighting effect is indeed going in the anti-clockwise direction.
However, the LEDs at the right track and LEDs at the audio line on the back of the motherboard all light up and turns off at the same time.
They are supposed to light up and be turned off one after another in the anti-clockwise direction.
Is this the problem that you are talking about?

Thanks

Thanks for mentioning it, I have only now noticed the IO Cover and the Right Track LED's lighting up and turn off at the same time. Yes, my issue with the Meteor effect is only the LED's going clockwise, I had no other issue with the lighting up and turn off of the Meteor effect LED's apart from the issue that you have now mentioned.

With the Stack effect the top two LED's of the right track stay faintly on when the stack starts building to the top. When it reaches the top and starts over, only then the top two LED's turn off completely for a few seconds. When I set the Stack LED brightness to 252 the top two LED's no longer remain faintly on during the effect and appears to operate normal. However the top two LED's also seems to have some sort of flicker and changing the brightness has no effect on it.

Hi Leonard,

The Breathing, Meteor and Stack efffect issues are now fixed with the 0A22 firmware.

It seems a color(purple shade) was added to the Rainbow effect, unfortunately the issue still remains. From Red to Blue the LED effect looks normal(Smooth), but from Blue to Red the color changes are still abrupt.

Thanks.
