Used RX 480 Armor with no display signal
« on: 12-February-19, 09:29:13 »

I recently got an ex-mining RX 480 Armor OC 8GB, but when I went to test it in my system with a B350 Tomahawk, I get no signal to my monitor via HDMI or DVI. I currently use an RX 480 Gaming X 8GB, which works fine in the same system, and I've tested an XFX RX 480 GTR 8GB running fine as well. It shouldn't be a software issue since these are all the same GPU. I tried both PCIe slots as well.
When I tested the Armor OC in another system with an ASRock B450 Pro4, I get a display signal via HDMI, so the card technically works, just not with my system.
The only thing I can say is that it seems to be an issue related to my B350 Tomahawk. Any ideas for how to solve this?

Add the card's S/N and a copy of the current vbios saved to file.

Device manager gives code 43 for the card, but I could get the bios.

The latest original vbios for your card is TV341MH.1K2. Try it: https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=312970.msg1793981#msg1793981

So I flashed the bios and tried booting up the system. I get basic display out, but my motherboard tells me that:

There is no GOP (Graphics Output Protocol) support detected in this card. 'Windows 8.1/10 feature' settings in BIOS will be changed to 'Disabled'.

It is a UEFI vbios, problem is with your board then.

I talked to the seller and they linked me to this vbios:
https://www.techpowerup.com/vgabios/196214/MSI.RX480.8192.170727.rom
I flashed it to my card and it works perfectly now.

You flashed the card with a wrong vbios. Warranty is now void...
