M.2 Xpander-Aero Questions
« on: 16-February-19, 21:53:24 »

I got one from eBay Never used plastic still on the TIM I have some questions
I have Currently have the 7820X (don't ask I slipped when delidding OUCHY) Once Siliconlottery gets them back in stock I want to pick up a i7-9800X
In the mean time my CPU is the 28PCIe lane version I want to run in raid 0, all the research says I can run without the VROC in Raid 0 The Manual for my MB says with the 28 Lane CPU I only get 8x on PCIe4
I know this will work in 8x at a slower speed so here are my questions

Can anyone confirm I can run in raid 0 without the VROC?

Can anyone point to some performance numbers for this in an 8x slot with 4 VNME drivers in Zero?

Hi,

Yes, you can use the M.2_1 and M.2_2 slots to create a RAID 0 through the Intel RST technology rather than VROC.

For 28 lane CPU:
Only 2 NVMe drives would be detected since only x8 is available.
If you are going to use the Xpander with nvme PCIE M.2 drives, then VROC would be required.

For 44 lane CPU:
All 4 NVMe drives can be detected and used to create a RAID 0.
