Power supply about upgrading Msi trident3
« on: 14-March-19, 04:10:26 »

Hi
Recently i have view a lot posts and try to upgrade my GPU in trident3.
  Originally was I7 7700+GTX1060 3G  230w power supply, i upgrade it to GTX1070 ITX
When 1070 works at 230w supply my desktop and auto shut down and restart as GPU loads heavily for a while.
I think it is power problem so i bought a delta 330W power adpter and see whats going on but it get auto shut down too.
Is it because of motherboard blocked power supply to 230W limited? if so why there are so many success case in China where people just replace a 1070 even 1080 and a bigger power supply which their trident3 works perfectly?

Hi
My friend and i got the same type of MSI trident 3 model, but my friend upgrade his GPU to 1080 with 650W power supply and work perfectly, but i am using delta 330W power adapter with GTX1070 ITX and get auto shutdown when GPU and CPU runs heavily, if my friends can use 650w power supply then there is not a power block in motherboard, i am confusing, The exact model is Trident 3 VR7RC-038AU-B7770010638G1T025X10MHA. Please help me put.

MSI is no Trident 3 with GTX1080 and 650W.
Trident 3 is max support GTX1070 and 330W

I think this system is MSI Trident X/650W from your friend.

Hi there
Just got confirmed my friend is using delta 330W power adapter like mine as well, the power is from alibaba, and his GPU is gigabyte 1080 mini itx, the maximum TDP is 280W as he tested, model of Trident3 is same as mine, so how can this happen?

MSB906H3S0106591 / PCBv2.1

So elder motherboard for pcb1.0 has power limited in hardware which cannot change? Can i unlock by update new bios or using pcb2.1 bios A20? i can install bios thats for trident3 artic
