BIOS request for MSI GTX 1070 GAMING X
« on: 09-May-19, 14:58:38 »

Hi,

I updated my bios version 86.04.26.00.3E which I did not back up, I trusted official update which was published few years back, to version 86.04.50.00.2A, and it is unstable, it freezes graphics card when playing games.
I also create support case for my card, but I am not sure if it helps :)
here is my S/N 602-V330-43SB1608007635

These infos are useless. None of that is a real vbios version.

The latest original vbios is NV330MH.242: https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=302551.msg1755476#msg1755476

I downloaded 242 version and filesize is identical, assuming then it is it what I have, but for me it is faulty and I would like to revert back to previous version, which might be then 241? in report there is MSINV330MH.241 so I will try 242 even if it is identical

info I was able to get from nvflash

yes, I downloaded and applied latest
and I anyway, since I started updating BIOS, went into an issue, when my default clocks are 1582/boos 1785MHz and when running games, it jumps to 1930MHz,
even if I revert back to original BIOS, I tried all 3 versions, default from MSI, and other 2, including latest one, it remains the same
somehow default clocks/voltage is overriden, I monitored in GPUZ and somehow this is broken, automatic boos etc, is not what it was before 1st bios update :(
I will dig in other topic threads

That is normal and the way it should be. There are no fixed clockrates anymore. The gpu will determine the boost clockrates possible according to power, load and temp situation. Advertised boost clockrates are just typical boost speeds at least possible in most situations.

that should be ok, if running ok :) but if default clocks are states as these: 1506/1683, or some other 1797 MHz / 1607 MHz (OC Mode),1771 MHz / 1582 MHz (Gaming Mode),1683 MHz / 1506 MHz (Silent Mode) and it goes to 1582 as silent and goes to 1932, which is crazy

yes thank you
but boosting is going too much over the limit of the hardware, I understand if it could do 1800 temporarily, but not 1932MHz, it immediately crashes / freezes

No, 1932Mhz is not too much. If it crashes there is another problem.  Add full system specs: >>Posting Guide<<

Try the card in a different pc if possible
bad news, same scenario happens in other PC with my graphics, also tried different graphics card in my pc, and it just proved, it is an issue on graphics card
I tried 4 different BIOS versions, issue appears everytime with different bios, I do not follow, how the bios update could break my card.
Feeling is, it just stop working when more load to the card, stops and freezes game, or eventually it also goes to BSOD.
Any tools to verify what part is broken in card? thanks for any help or ideas to check.

If it also crashes in a different pc the card is simply bad. RMA it.
