MSI B450 Tomahawk Win7 installation problem
« on: 18-May-19, 12:49:16 »

I have been having problem with Win 7 installation on my new hardware. After the installer shows the language screen my mouse and keyboard become invisible to the system. The reason is quite obvious. i tried to create booting USB with MSI Smart tool but nothing changes. Maybe i am doing something wrong. When i create only the booting USB the problem with mouse and keyboard persists. I noticed that there is Add USB drivers option but when i select it it says ''create failed please check the windows installation file''. Does someone have any experience with using the tool in the same scenario?

AMD has left support of Windows 7 since the Raven Ridge: USB and ACPI issues (see >>Here<< for example). USB problem exists also for Pinnacle Ridge but some tutorial explain how to overcome it (see >>how-to-get-ryzen-working-on-windows-7-x64<< for example) but I do not know if they work today. If you want to use this OS without problem, you must have a Summit Ridge.
To install, I can suggest 2 methods:
1/ the easyest one:
Borrow a PS/2 keyboard. Install Windows 7 using it. Once the installation ended, wait that Windows Update end (of course, install >>Realtek PCI-E Ethernet Drivers<< if LAN driver is not already installed).  All missing drivers will be installed including those for USB. After that, install >>AMD Chipset Driver<< and >>AMD USB3.1 Driver (W7)<<.
2/ The other method:
Follow >>Install Windows 7 through USB 3.0 port<< to create the USB key. In Step 2 (download and unpack Intel USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Controller Driver), in place of the Intel drivers package, use >>AMD USB3.1 Driver (W7)<<.
Hoping it shall help,
