overclock ram with MSI z390
« on: 09-August-19, 10:06:56 »

Hello,

I just had a new pc a month ago now.

I took a motherboard MSI MPG Z390 GAMING EDGE AC and this ram G.Skill Trident Z DDR4 RGB 4 x 8GB 3000 MHz CASE 16

the problem is that in the task manager I see that the ram is at 2666 MHz while I bought it for 3000....

Apparently I have to go do something in the bios to activate a "profile xmp" to put the 3000 Mhz.

I'm really a computer novice so I'm a little scared to go into the bios and venture there knowing nothing .... I found what to do on other sites but sometimes it's not really clear

and as I'm afraid of making a mistake I come to you hoping you could guide me?

What are the steps I need to do?

Thank you for your help!

Elie.

When you enter bios (by spamming the del/delete key during post) you get the bios screen, the second round button on the left, click it to turn it on.

If it's already turned on than it is already running at 3000mhz

Go to oc menu make sure xmp profile is selected.

Post a screen capture of CPU-Z memory and spd tab.
You can open multiple instances of cpu-z to have both tabs in the same capture.

Perhaps bios screen as well (F12 to save to usd flash drive)
