B75MA-P45 maximum HDD size
« on: 12-August-19, 22:40:02 »

Good evening.

I've had a computer with a B75MA-P45 motherboard running the bare minimum for quite some time. I've recently decided to do some upgrades since the machine is still in very good condition and used minimally. I am upgrading the RAM from 4GB to 8GB and possibly to 16GB.

My goal is to eliminate my current media machine which runs 2 2TB external drives that are almost maxed out. I'd like to just get 1 internal drive, which would be a 6TB internal Western Digital Blue.

Can the B75MA-P45 even handle a 6TB drive? The booklet/website talks of a 3TB+ Infinity technology. Is 3TB my limit for a single drive?

Thank you.

I don't know about storage limitations if any, but be aware that finding memory for this old board may not be an easy task.
I have just recently upgraded an MSI H81M-E33 motherboard, and first I have tried memory that was 2-3 years younger than the motherboard and of course it did not boot up. I was lucky there was compatible memory on sale at store near by.
For your board you can use G.Skill RAM Configurator or Kingston memory search or if you can find any ram that is on the QVL (just make sure mudule capacity x DIMMs match what you are looking for)

Thank you. The new chip is arriving today. I should know more then.

I took the old chip out and did a search for the Corsair part number. 4GB, DDR3, 1333. CMX4GX3M1A1333C9.

Hoping it works.
