M.2 Compatibility with MSI P65-8RF 442US
« on: 17-August-19, 12:55:39 »

Is there a compatibility list anywhere for SSD's?  Looking at adding an additional M.2 drive to wife's laptop.  Specs say it has 2 slots, one is already filled with a 256GB.  She's demanding more storage space.  I know it's painful to access but I've built dozens of PC's so hopefully this won't be much harder.

Will this M.2 drive work with the MSI laptop?

I don't think you need a сompatibility list to add new SSD into your laptop. Any M.2 SSD (2280 size) will do. But be aware although MSI P65 8RF has two M.2 slots, one of them supports only NVMe protocol. Other supports both NVMe and SATA. You should find out what slot is vacant in your laptop nowIf it's NVMe/SATA combo slot then you can buy any NVMe or SATA M.2 SSD. But if it's NVMe slot then you should be shopping for NVMe only M.2 SSD.
