Where to start for getting memory up to speed
« on: 19-August-19, 12:26:39 »

Hello all,

I've put together a new machine with a Ryzen 5 2600 on an MSI Tomahawk B450 with G.SKILL Flare X Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) 288-Pin DDR4 SDRAM DDR4 3200 (PC4 25600) AMD X370 / B350 Memory (Desktop Memory) Model F4-3200C14D-16GFX.

I know I have to go into the BIOS and enable AMP/XMP to get the memory to run higher than 2400. My question is what other BIOS settings do I need to pay attention to in order to get the best out of my memory? Are there any good guides or YouTubes to check out that will steer me well?

Note, too, I am not a gamer (with the exceptions of just a few games here and there), so what I'm really after is just to have my system running at its best in the stock case it's in.

Thanks much.

The SPD is actually programmed for 2133.
Just select XMP and worry about nothing if your computer is table, you will probably will not notice any difference at all.

Haven't gotten to it yet. Work and all, you know!

I hope today to get to it, as well as get Windows 10 installed.

Here's a very good youtube guide:

I think he gives you links to the utilities in the comments.  It really is useful for tweaking the most out of your memory.
