Install Windows 10 on ms-7032 and boot from USB
« on: 07-October-19, 19:50:40 »

I have an MS-7032 motherboard, and it seems that it can't install Windows 10. Maybe the bios need to be updated if there is a newer version? I think that now it's 5.0 and maybe there is 5.1 for updating. Also, it can't boot Windows 7 or 10 from DVD or USB, there is only black screen. It has been tried with Media Tool Creator and Rufus, the DVDs and USBs boot on another computer. The options in the bios have been set for the boot order and for legacy support. It boots Windows XP from a CD. Other parts are Sempron 2600+, 1 GB DDR1 RAM and Radeon HD 3450.

Are you trying to install 64 or 32 bit Windows 7/10? Your system will only be compatible with 32-bit.

I've tried installing both, there are bootable Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit DVD, and another Windows 10 32-bit DVD downloaded with the Media Creation Tool, but they can't boot on this computer. MSI Live Update 5 on Windows XP says that it's the latest version of bios, on a manual check. The automatic check has an error message. Live Update 6 requires .Net framework 4.5 which doesn't work on XP.

Windows 7 32-bit is going to be your only real choice. Windows 10 is going to be so slow it's useless, even if you turn things off. I would get a known good dvd drive and windows 7 32 bit dvd, then try to install normally. Systems like yours may have several minutes of waiting between screens, I've seen it many times, try waiting at least 10-15 minutes through each black screen if all else fails. Consider just using XP or maybe GNU/Linux. Also closely inspect your motherboard for any bulging or leaking capacitors.

Yes, I've tried the DVDs and the USB on another computer. Will try waiting with Windows 7 32-bit.

2 GB DDR1 RAM have been added instead of 1 GB. I added Windows XP, then installed and mounted an iso of Windows 8 from the hard drive, and did the same with Windows 8.1 and Windows 10.

Good job man, that is something that I never have, and also never would have attempted. I'm happy it worked for you and that Windows 10 works on your computer. How usable is it

Thank you. It seems a little slow on right-click on the desktop and using the start menu. The file system navigation seems good. Google Chrome is slower, and it takes some time to open Facebook. The temperature is about 45 degrees, but using Windows XP is about 33 - 34 degrees. The processor with Chrome is on 100%, the RAM got about 1.8 GB usage. Some of the programs got frozen a few times, like Task Manager, Paint, and Chrome, when they were opened together.

Sounds normal. Try to get up to 3GB of RAM if you can. System Properties -> performance options turn off any visual effects that are giving you a slowdown. Have you tried any flavors of GNU/Linux yet? It will probably be more usable. This may sound crazy but Internet Explorer usually runs better on slow computers, Chrome is really pushing it here!!! I'm extremely curious of why you want to torture yourself with this as well, or did you just want to see if you could?

The maximum amount for the motherboard is 2 GB. I can try the performance options, thank you. Yes, I have tried Linux in virtual machines. Edge seemed faster. Windows XP is not supported, I thought that Windows 10 would be good because it's the latest version and that it would have similar performance, and yes, to know if it will run.

I couldn't imagine using something like that for anything past XP. Have you ever had Win98 on that board? That's what I would be tinkering with, looks like there are drivers too!

Windows XP is supported, that was a mistake, and it has good performance. I'm not in the USA and have another computer, this one is older.
