Set 4k HDMI to Output 1080p
« on: 08-November-19, 21:04:00 »

Hello everyone, I have just purchased an MSI P65 9SD, and according to the spec sheet, the HDMI outputs 4k @ 60hz.
The problem is my already owned external display has the native resolution of 1080p, so it is never detected in my system (both Windows and Linux).
So my question is, is there anyway to set the HDMI output to 1080p @ 60hz? I don't mind downgrading my main screen to 60 hz to make this work, since I really need my second screen for my workflow.
Any helps is greatly appreciated, thanks in advance.

I am using a 1080p display with my 9SE via the HDMI port. How are you connecting yours?

Some apps play nicer than others, but I have been able to get most of them to scale properly on the 1080P display.

Hi Kate, thank you for your answer. I sort of finally got this to work, and it seems like the issue was with the driver.
