Can't manually overclock on TRX40
« on: 18-February-20, 13:31:04 »

Hi,

Recently got a TRX40 Pro 10G and Threadripper 3960x. I can't find anywhere or any way to change the multiplier... it is always greyed out. The only thing that works is using OC Genie for the 400MHz boost. I have read the manual and haven't found anything useful. Online explanations of OC with other similar boards show changing things I can't change.

Help?

Have you tried +/- keys of numpad to change core ratio?

I did when I updated to latest BIOS, which I thought might help. No matter what I change, I can never change CPU Ratio from Auto. It will also not use any boost. No matter what, it would stick flat at 3800MHz across all cores.

Ask msi >>How to contact MSI<<
Which bios versions have you tried?

MSI support provided me with a 1.35 BIOS to try.

- The multiplier can be changed now when Genie is off, and I have a successful manual overclock.
- Now enabling PBO causes the CPU to run at 2800MHz, regardless of the settings used.

Weird.
