Slow 64??
« on: 16-December-03, 21:55:44 »

Hi all:)

I just built this computer and I have a few questions that I know you can answer:)

1. It takes forever to load programs both on the first install, then again when I bring them up.

2. It freezes at least twice a day...

3. I have the Bios set as it came (default). what changes should I make?  I think this is where the problem lies...

I know this will kick A**, I just need some help to make it so:)  Please make me look good in my families eyes  :confused2l

OS?? Did you bork anything when you assembled it (hear any cracks, push too hard on cables)... is the memory seated correctly??  are the cables seated correctly??  have you run a memtest/stress tester?? (ie: gentoo liveCD with boot option "memtest").

err!

It all seems to be seated... It plays great, just takes forever to load, and freezes every now and then on certain games (older if that matters)...

Thanks

This board and CPU really needto work with 100% compatible components or else it runs like *smelly word*
Make sure your memory is working 100% and they are compatible.

In BIOS, try to disable all shadowing options and fastwrite. If your using PCI cards, remove them and see if it runs any better

i have the following problems:

battlefield crashes to dekstop randomly, generally after more than 15 minutes of play.

prime 95 crashes on "blend" torture test, but is 100% fine when u set it to test the CPU/l2 cache etc. (little amount of ram)

thats about it. are you using cat 3.9, and update the BIOS, service pack one, via drivers, etc
