Best memory configuration?
« on: 18-December-03, 09:10:43 »

SYSTEM SPECIFICATIONS:
Windows XP Home
AMD Athlon 64 3200+
MSI K8T Neo-FISR motherboard
ATI Radeon 9600XT 128MB
MEMORY (cannot identify brand):
- Slot 1: DDR 512MB PC-2100 (very generic looking, no branding)
- Slot 2: DDR 256MB PC-2100 (Hyundai is printed on the chips)

And my PC seems to run only a little faster than the AMD 1.4Ghz Athlon I had previously. Please tell me if I can do better.

What's the best, most stable memory configuration for this kind of system? If I move on to better memory, is it absolutely necessary to modify the BIOS?

Any insight is appreciated. Thanks! :-)

you ram is horribly slow, im suprised it works at all

you need to get DDR400: PC3200

get two 512MB Sticks. here is a list of supported memory at the bottom of the page

EDIT: i upgraded from an Athlon XP 2400+ (2GHz) and am amazed at the speed increase
