the re-writer is 48-16-48, i installed nero burn and tried to format the re-write disk it got half way through then the computer locks up... it goes blue with the message windows protection error, then i have to re-boot manually because it wont let me alt-con del.
i tried to install other software burners but they dont recognise my burner, that is why i am after the right driver!!! ;(

  • once again its not a driver its a firmware the drives bios

    Notice:

Trying to upgrade with improper firmware may damage your drive.
MSI does not recommend users to upgrade if your drive is working properly in your PC.

Each model of MSI optical storage drive needs specific firmware for upgrading. The firmware only applies to its designed model, and is not compatible with others. Please identify exact model of your drive before you download. (Please use product specifications and the pattern on front panel below for your reference.) Select proper firmware version to upgrade.

Lone, dont tell me, you are trying to copy a game, aren't you?

The cd you are trying to copy is protected. Most "usual" burning software will not copy through the protection. Some special software, like CloneCD (http://www.elby.de) can help, but they are not 100% garanteed.

Note: copying your own CDs for backup is legal.

Another useful prog for CD backup are the daemon tools (http://www.daemon-tools.com). They also have a very good forum about games and protected CDs, helping to find the right parameters for 1:1 backup copies.

If there are no solution (it happens, the latests CD protection are GOOD), you can use a noCD to use your backup copy.

Note again: using a noCD on a program you bought is legal.

hi... the cd i am trying to copy is a data cd i use to order parts for my buisness, i have two computers and it saves time swopping disks from one to the other.
my supplier will send me another cd but they have ran out and will send two updated cds in january so there is nothing underhand but i totally understand the copyrite.

what i wrote stay true for data protected CDs.

You can try cloneCD or even before that clonyXXL to find what kind of protection is used on that CD and if cloneCD can copy it. and same, the Daemontools could also work.

Clony XXL can be found here:
