Hello, while backing up in the external drive via MSI recovery. Without my knowledge, all the datas in the external drive got deleted and the drive got partitioned into two drives. How do i reset my drive and is there any chance I can recover my files?

How to delete a partition with diskpart

The delete command in diskpart removes dynamic disks, partitions, volumes and shadow copies. When you have multiple volumes on the disk or an unwanted partition, such as a recovery partition, this command removes them and returns them to unallocated space.

Take the following steps to delete a partition:

  1. At a command prompt, type diskpart.
  2. At the DISKPART prompt, type select disk [number]. Choose the disk to modify.
  3. At the DISKPART prompt, type list partition.
  4. At the DISKPART prompt, type select partition [number]. Enter the partition number to modify.
  5. At the DISKPART prompt, type delete partition.
  6. At the DISKPART prompt, type exit.

Hi, I experienced the same situation. I lost all the data in my external hard drive without my knowledge while running the MSI recovery. Were you able to recover your files?

You may be able to recover the data if you take it to a professional store that does data recovery. Or you may have some luck using some software. I used Acronis in the past not to recover, but to see how much data is recoverable after I wiped the drive.. a lot was still accessible lol But some was still corrupted.
